He married Esther Luckey on April 15, 1780 in Rowan Co. N. C. They left there and moved to Kentucky, finally settling in Adams Co. Ohio. John and Esther joined the Shakers and moved to Indiana. Some of their children left the Shakers and were later in Livingston Co. Mo.
Joined Shakers 1805, Eagle Creek, OH. According to the journal publication, "Shakers of Ohio", John and his wife Esther died in Indiana.
The Shakers had cemeteries but they didn`t have elaborate or any tombstones so John and Esther`s graves are unmarked. In fact, there is no longer any evidence of the cemetery or where the Shaker community lived n IN.
