Will dated 5/4/1788, Rowan Co, NC. Recorded in Book 1, page 8, no 5 inIredell Co, NC, dated 6/8/1789. Signed "James Hains", witnessed by John Brown, Robert Scott and John Hains, Jr. The will reads "James Hains of Rowan Co, NC and bequeths to wife Ann Hains: to daughter Hannah Brown, to daughter Mary Andrews, Sarah Garrison, Jane Scott, to son John Hains, one tract of land joining the place he now lives on containing 116 acres and also 84 acres off my old tract including the house and cleared land; to son James Hains, to son Joseph Hains. Names Joseph and James Executors.
